Gov. Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida, appointed Renatha Francis, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge to the highest court of the state.
Francis was appointed to Florida Supreme Court to succeed Justice Al Lawson. DeSantis appreciated his service over the decades.

Francis was born in Jamaica, and immigrated to America in 2004. In 2010, she graduated from Florida Coastal Law School.
“I’m humbled that I get to be a part of this great American experiment, and to serve at the highest level of our state judiciary. The Florida Supreme Court protects the people’s liberty, and inherent in the way that we do that as a judiciary is by respecting and observing the limited role that our judges play in our Constitutional system of government,” Francis said.
DeSantis tried to appoint Francis in the same position in 2020 but was stopped by a lawsuit that pointed out she hadn’t met the Florida Bar requirement of being on the Florida Bar at least ten years.
Instead, Judge Jamie Grosshans was appointed to the position.
DeSantis stated that he chose to start from scratch when it came time to pick a candidate to the Florida Supreme Court. He chose Francis again, despite the overwhelming field.

“Judge Renatha Franc has an extraordinary life story that epitomizes American dream and proves to us that all who come to this country have the chance to pursue their dreams, and through hard work, and the application God-given talent, achieve the highest heights in whatever field they choose,” said Governor.
